Great companies stem from great leadership – who build teams of great people. Our leadership team reflects years of experience and expertise in their fields and our service industry.
Our story begins more than 140 years ago servicing gas lamps in the San Francisco area. Over time, our service offerings have grown and evolved. Today, as Smart Care, we are a national company spanning coast to coast.
In 1878, Gas Consumers Association is established in San Francisco to service gas lamps.
As electricity became more common, Gas Consumers Association expanded service capabilities to include gas ranges and most gas appliances.
In the late 1970s, Gas Consumers Association changes its name to Gas Consumer Services, or GCS.
In 1998, Ecolab purchases GCS which is then renamed Ecolab Equipment Care.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Ecolab grows the Equipment Care business through the acquisition of Metro Appliance Service Inc., Stove Parts Supply Co., Commercial Parts and Service, Peterson’s Commercial Parts & Service, and ARR/CRS.
In October of 2017, Ecolab announces the sale of their Equipment Care business to Audax Private Equity, a private equity firm in Boston, MA.
Equipment Care officially separates from Ecolab and becomes EEC Acquisition LLC on November 1, 2017.
